Hi guys!
Sooo-last week I had a display at Dessertland in Gol,Hallingdal. This is my hometown, and I've got to
say a big thank you to my father and Mariola and Egil at Dessertland to make this happen-you guys
are the best!
This was on the "Gol-market days" where there is stands, carnival, lots of fun. Also, my father
is trying to make sort of a cafe culture at Dessertland, where young talents can get a bit a bit of
a chance to show themselves. They had two shows, one on thursday and one on saturday-
and the place was full! I ran into a couple of familiar faces, and I also actually got to sell a fiew
pieces.
So here is the check list if you ever decide to have a small display like this:
-ARRIVE EARLY:
Be sure to arrive at the place early-check out where it is comfortable to sit but also
be sure to sit a place where it is easy to get ahold of the customers.
When you sit like this, you will probably sit for a couple of hours to be sure to bring
a good book and water.
-BUDGET-
If you have your display like the one I had, it is a good advice to put in a extra few bucks-
you never know, it can suddenly begin to rain and you will need extra things you didn't
think of before, like blinds, extra decorations etc.
-CHANGE CURRECY-you will need change curresy. You do not want to blow a sale
just becouse you didn't have enough cash.
-HAVE THE DISPLAY A PLACE WHERE THERE IS LOTS OF PEOPLE.
Should explain it self, but I will mention it. You might think at first that you don't want too
many people, but I assure you it is better...and times flies faster.
-DON'T UNDER PRICE YOURSELF;)
Second, don't underprice yourself. This is your work, you worked hard for it.
If you are an unknown artist people will still be paying the price if it is a picture
they really want, so don't think that you should sell your pieces as cheap as possible
just to make a sale. There is not a customer in the world who will buy anything
just becouse it is cheap-remember that. The customer buys becouse he or she
needs it, or simply wants it really bad:)
..So all you've got to do it just make really assume illustrations and you are good to go;)
Here is the drawing of this week: "Midnight Rose"

You are so talented! Thanks for sharing your show list with us. :)
